Project Description

Spartacus is a project made of a series of art interventions in public spaces. The project started in Athens in May 2013 and focuses on issues related to the contemporary visuality of social crisis and protest.

Spartacus has traveled to Athens, Cyprus, Rome and Istanbul, generating a series of art interventions, exhibitions and talks, analyzing the contemporary visuality of democracies in crisis and their post-postmodern re-interpretations.

From the United Kingdom to Turkey, from Greece to the US, the crisis of democracy is a result of unpunished or even legalized systems of corruption and criminal activities.

The artworks by Lanfranco Aceti are a mix of public interventions, installations, photographs and prints.

Public space curators: Ozden Sahin and Jonathan Munro.
Project assistant: Zeynep Ozel.
