Project Description

A Break in the Lines of Life is an art project that analyzes life and its linearity as a psychological and societal construct. The lines are abstractions that represent the course of life of individuals and the breaks within them are symbolic of dramatic events that break the linear pattern that as humans we construct in our minds of how our life should be.

The artworks showcase the tension between linear order and chaotic rupture in an abstract manner, moving away from the realities that underpin the traumatic events characterizing human life. The contrast between the ‘normality’ of the linear landscape and the ruptured lines is a reminder of the alienation of the individual in experiencing and living through trauma.

A Break in the Lines of Life is part of a series of prints, videos and installations developed from 2001.
