It’s All Greek to Me is a new exhibition that I am part of and that runs from November 26, 2015 to January 9, 2016. This is a co-curated group exhibition by Artemis Potamianou and Julie René de Cotret, featuring the works of: Lanfranco Aceti, Campus Novel, Jefferson Campbell-Cooper, Kostas Christopolous, Yiannis Grigoriadis, Yiannis Isidorou, Jenny Marketou, Giorgos Papadatos, Poka-Yio, Artemis Potamianou, Makrigiannis Stilianos & Anonymous. For this exhibition I am in the company of great artists as well as benefiting from the curatorial support of Artemis Potamianou, an accomplished curator and artist and Julie René de Cotret another great artist/curator.

The exhibition is in Toronto @ Hallway Galleries – Artscape Youngplace 180 Shaw Street, Toronto, Ontario Canada, (3rd floor), from 8am to 9pm, 7 days a week. If you happen to be there pay a visit, it is a well curated and put together show.

In their statement Artemis Potamianou and Julie René de Cotret explain that “One of the motivator behind this exhibition was the desire to share the art practice of contemporary Greek artists with our audience, another was to empower a direct channel for Greek cultural expressions on the current financial, social and political realities that they are experiencing. We have also included the works of two Canadian artists and other international artists who have exhibited in Athens, adding outsider experiences to the range of expressions included in the exhibition.”

“The exhibition It’s All Greek to Me attempts to document the contemporary greek art scene but also artists from other countries who have been inspired from the situation in Greece, in the present tense. It conveys the preoccupations of visual artists who use their work to articulate statements with which to describe the current reality and comment on it. The exhibition examines issues like the financial crisis and the current situation in Greece, the causes that led to it and their roots deep in the past or the attitude of other countries, while the problem of emigration in past and present times is a key point of reference in one section of the show.”
